PILAS Student Ministry

What a thrill it is to see God rise up missionaries right from our church family.  Barb and Gerry Normand joined our church in 2003 and in 2006, began serving internationally.  The Normands were formally commissioned and sent by Heart Lake Baptist Church in 2010 to serve indigenous Guatemalans of Sumpango, SacatepĂ©quez.

Their initial calling to serve the people of el YalĂș expanded to additional villages in 2013 when they launched a youth focused ministry called PILAS Student Ministry. PILAS is a dynamic and growing ministry focused on providing Christ-centered education and youth leadership training to disadvantaged students in grades 5 and up through: youth group in four different villages, local school partnerships, local church partnerships and a scholarship & mentoring program in the town of Sumpango, where they live.
